Chapter Philanthropy

Our Chapter prides itself on the commitment to service of all of its members, through outreach programs in West Philadelphia, tutoring for underprivileged kids, volunteering abroad, and so much more. As a Chapter, some of our favorite events are our those we organize to benefit Sigma Kappa's National Philanthropies, including Inherit the Earth, the Maine Sea Coast Mission, and Gerontology Research with a specific goal of finding a cure for Alzheimer's Disease. We focus our fundraising efforts towards Sigma Kappa's Ultra Violet Campaign, which provides funding to SK's national initiatives along with leadership development, sisters in need, and education.

In the past year, we participated in the Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer's, the Red Cross Blood Drive, and a Hurricane Irma Clothing Drive. We also held profit sharing nights with SchmearIt! to benefit the Sigma Kappa Foundation and to raise money for our Relay for Life team.

In addition to these smaller projects, our Chapter hosts two major philanthropy events every year: the newly inaugurated Sweet and Savory in the fall and Sigma Kappa Karnival in the spring. In 2017, our Sweet and Savory event raised $2,366 for Alzheimer's Research, and we had tons of fun giving out chicken and waffles to our fellow students!

Last Spring, we held our Sigma Kappa Karnival with burgers and hot dogs for everyone who purchased a ticket. There were also fun carnival games for guests to partake in. We enjoyed a beautiful April day and had a great time with friends from other Greek organizations, sports teams, and performing arts groups as we raised over $1,500 for Alzheimer's Research.
