Chapter History

Penn Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life

The University of Pennsylvania Panhellenic Council is comprised of 8 women's fraternities* and sororities.
*It's important to note that some Panhellenic organizations which use the name 'fraternity' are still women's organizations. In many cases, this is because the term 'sorority' was not invented until 1874.

Each member organization of the Panhellenic Council at Penn is part of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), which comprises 26 inter/national women's fraternities and sororities.

Kappa Iota Chapter

The Kappa Iota Chapter of Sigma Kappa has prided itself on its diversity and close-knit sisterhood. We have had a presence at the University of Pennsylvania for the past 16 years. The ladies of Sigma Kappa always strive for academic excellence and exemplify leadership, compassion, and loyalty to each other. We actively participate in service activities in the community and on campus. Lastly, we come together to create the most incredible on-campus family that any of us could have asked for!

Our beautiful chapter house is located at 3928 Spruce Street and houses 16 members every year, though each one of us feels right at home doing work in our study space or laying on the couch watching The Bachelor or a football game. Though we're from different parts of the world, Sigma Kappa has become our home away from home!
